Prime Video has shared the first Ballard teaser trailer for its upcoming Bosch spin-off starring Maggie Q as Detective Renée Ballard. The show is expected to start streaming sometime this summer.

What happens in the Ballard teaser trailer?
The video highlights the next chapter in the world of Bosch, with Q’s titular character dealing with challenges of leading the LAPD’s new cold-case unit. It also teases the appearance of franchise lead Titus Welliver as he reprises his role as Harry Bosch. This serves as Q’s first major TV project as the lead after nearly a decade since the short-lived crime drama series Stalker.
Ballard is based on Michael Connelly’s Bosch novels. The cast includes John Carroll Lynch, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Victoria Moroles, Courtney Taylor, Hector Hugo, Noah Bean, Michael Cassidy, and more. The show is executive produced by Connelly, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hofmann, Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, Jasmine Russ, Jamie Boscardin Martin, Trey Batchelor, and Theresa Snider. It hails from Amazon MGM Studios.
“It follows Detective Renée Ballard (Q), who is tasked with running the LAPD’s new cold-case unit — a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest caseload in the city,” reads the logline. “Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination.
